Hi, I’m Stacy M.— a college student pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Digital Media. I've always been a creative person with a vivid imagination. As a child, I had all kinds of art supplies from paints, markers, crayons, and tons of paper to yarn, buttons, and glitter. I enjoyed making things. Sometimes I was happy with my art. Other times, I would get discouraged because I couldn’t get my ideas to look the same way on paper as they did in my head. I wasn’t the greatest at drawing, or painting, but I still tried because it brought me joy and peace to just be able to sit and create. I think part of what motivates me now to create things, is wanting that same feeling of joy that I had as a child. Now that I’m grown, my art looks very different than it did back then. I do most of my work digitally now, but will still, on occasion, put pen to paper.
One of the beautiful things about working digitally, is the ability to update my work as I develop new skills. I love that I can keep the original perfectly intact and work with an exact copy. Much like technology, my art has evolved in so many ways since I was a child and I’ve learned a lot since then. I still get frustrated at times when I can’t get my ideas on “paper”, but the older I get the more I realize that I can do more than I give myself credit for. I, like many people, am my own worst critic, but I’m working on that. I see things in myself that I never used to see before. One of my many dreams is to make art that inspires people. My hope is that others will see my work and realize that, they too, can do more than they think.
TL;DR- If I can do it, you can do it.
